It is 9.08pm, it's forum member Esko's 25th birthday I am officially the newest 'poet' in town.

Despite being the largest forum so far, I come here fully expecting to take the title of 'least talented poet' but after a quick glance at a few threads it seems I may have a little competition for that crown.

9.39pm The intro thread:
Greetings.
I am Marmalord - the ruler of Marmaland.
Delighted to be here, there are clearly some very talented poets kicking around this forum.I really look forward to reading more members work, and posting the odd piece of my own.
(:badger: insertion)

A mere 9 minutes later and VIP forum member Bastet is the first to welcome me with his or her 2147th post in 8 months of residency.

"salutations to you m'lord marmalord - i hope you enjoy the forum and look forward to reading your work"

Well I better not keep Bastet waiting - looks like it is time to post a poem.

There are many categories in which to submit your 'work', but 'Mature triggering content' comes with a bit of a health warning so it seems the right home for..............

New thread 10.50pm - Marmalade violation:
Written in the trenches during the war with the evil lemon curds (dark times), feedback of all flavours welcomed!

Marmalade violation

His hand a claw with damaged knuckles
He delved into his bag of apples
The fruit he offered was smooth in texture
You perceived the gift an honest gesture
But when skin is broken, find flesh is rotten
And so the trust is soon forgotten
He creeps up beside you with eyes wild
To spread his marmalade on your child

Well I did say I was going to post the 'odd' piece. I am very excited to see if my prose gets any critique.

Response:
Forum VIP Yog
"This was quite twisted: distract with a seeming kindness while I work evil in the shadows of ignorance".

Senior member SalaamPoetic
"That was funny... should be in 'Humour' tho. Nice write".
